Web site technology

The EnvironmentCounts.org (EC) web site uses a content management system (CMS) called Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware . Tiki is a full-featured, web-based, multilingual, tightly integrated, all-in-one Wiki+CMS+Groupware. It is free and open source software (GNU/LGPL), and uses PHP, MySQL, Zend Framework, jQuery, and Smarty. Tiki is actively developed by a large international community and is managed by the Tiki Software Community Association.

EC is running on Tiki 12 on the Linux (Debian 9 "jessie" ) operating system hosted on ElasticHosts.

Content Management System

Tiki incorporates a permission system to provide different types of users (editors, contributors, and readers) different levels of access. Anonymous users can read and search for articles and What's New posts. Registered users are provided a workspace with a notification option. Editors can create, edit and publish articles; upload and share images; post the latest news by posting to the What's New blog, and tag content to create a folksonomy for searching and retrieval.
